Collin Hayes brings a lifetime of wrestling experience, passion, and leadership to the California Grapplers program. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Collin was raised in a wrestling-centered environment under the guidance of his father, Bill Hayes, where he developed a deep respect for the sport and the discipline it demands.

After relocating to California, Collin continued his wrestling journey at Northview High School, where he trained under Hall of Fame coaches David Ochoa and Bobby Bellamy. Competing in one of the most competitive wrestling states in the nation, he earned recognition as a California state placer, establishing himself as a high-level competitor with a strong technical foundation.

What truly sets Coach Hayes apart is his unique wrestling style and attention to technique. His ability to break down complex positions and teach them in a way that athletes understand is unmatched. Whether working with beginners or advanced wrestlers, Collin’s approach emphasizes fundamentals, creativity, and situational awareness on the mat.

Now in his third year as a coach, Collin has quickly built a reputation as one of the rising leaders in youth wrestling. His ability to connect with his athletes is unmatched, creating an environment built on trust, accountability, and growth. That connection translated into success this past season, as he led California Grapplers to its first CAGWA League Championship.

Coach Hayes is deeply committed to developing not only skilled wrestlers, but confident, disciplined young individuals. His mission is to pass on the lessons the sport has given him and to help each athlete reach their full potential, on and off the mat.
